LB-855 (S2S version or S4S version)
The LB-855 Wide Bed Surfacer provides our customers with the ability to surface wide materials top and bottom up to 55″ in width and 8″ in height. It is an excellent choice for glu-lam, particleboard and other composite materials.
For glu-lam customers the LB-855 may be equipped with the optional sidehead and outfeed roll units allowing beams to be surfaced and eased-edged in one pass. It can be equipped with a “floating side head” which can accommodate up to 8″ of camber. Equipped with the Newman Helical Carbide Cutterheads and powered by 100 HP coupled 1800 RPM motors, the LB-855 provides for the quiet, low-vibration, high performance operation necessary in today’s world market.

Feed Speeds:
- Minimum Feed Speed: 20 FPM

Cutterhead Options:
- 8-knife row, high speed steel 10-3/16″ cutting circle
- Newman Helical Carbide Cutterhead, 6-knife row, 10-3/16″ cutting circle
Cutterhead Motors:
- Top head has a 100 HP, 1800 RPM, TEFC Premium Efficiency Direct Coupled Motor
- Bottom head has a 100 HP, 1800 RPM, TEFC Premium Efficiency Direct Coupled Motor
Feed System:
- Top Rolls include three urethane covered steel rolls approximately 12″ in diameter, driven by two 15 HP helical gear motors with AC variable frequency drives
- Bottom Rolls include three idle steel rolls, 12″ in diameter
Outfeed Unit (Optional):
- Top roll is constructed of urethane covered steel, approximately 12″ in diameter, driven by one 15 HP helical gear motor with AC variable frequency drive
- Bottom roll is made of steel approximately 12″ in diameter
Top Head Chipbreaker:
- Independently yielding 4″ wide sections, ½” yield per section
- Air operated chipbreaker release is standard
Side Head Unit (Optional):
- 20 HP 1800 RPM TEFC premium efficiency motor
- 3-1/4″ diameter straight spindle
- Unit has 8″ of horizontal travel
