The Newman LB-1872 Lambeam Planer is a top and bottom planer capable of surfacing Glulam and other Timbers up to 18” tall x 72” wide, with cuts up to 3/8” per side. Each of the two cutterheads are coupled to its own 125 horsepower, 1,800 RPM electric motor. The feed system consists of three top feed rolls coupled with universal driveshafts to dedicated 15 HP helical gearboxes. The three-bottom feed-rolls are idle.

The top and bottom cutterheads are ground and jointed in the machine for superior finish, safety and ease of maintenance.

The bottom cutterhead assembly slides out the side of the machine for convenient, safe knife maintenance.

An optional sidehead unit is available with floating heads for surfacing beams with camber.

Other cut capacities are available.

Specifications:

Cutterheads:

Two cutterheads each with 6 knife rows, 72” long, 10-1/4” cutting circle. Each cutterhead comes with one set of knives, gibs, and gib screws. Knife height is easily set to the correct height using the furnished knife roller setter.

Standard Motors:

Cutterhead: Two 125hp, 1750 RPM, 60 hertz, premium efficiency, TEFC motors complete with soft-start starters

Standard Voltage: 460 Volt, 60 Hertz, 3 Phase, complete electrics provided.

Construction:

Frame Construction: Constructed of steel plate weldments, oven stress relieved for stability and durability. Wear surfaces are replaceable. The tables are made from Abrasion Resistant Wear Plate. The heaviest construction in the industry.

Capacities:

Feed Opening: 18” (457mm) high x 72” (1828mm) wide

Maximum cut 3/8” per side depending upon feed speed.

Feed rate: 20 to 100 lineal feet per minute.

PLC controlled setworks for the top cutterhead and feed rolls.

Shipping Weight: Approximately 31,500 lbs.
