Plane large timbers … 4 sides… in a single pass.

The TM-1 timber sizer is designed to provide an excellent planed surface finish for large timbers.  Work pieces of up to 30” x 24” can be processed S4S with the standard Newman Helical Carbide Cutterheads.

Newman Helical Carbide Cutterheads provide for substantial improvements with regard to noise reduction, lower operating costs and improved performance.  Large timbers can be planed to within .030” of target size while providing excellent parallelism.

Pneumatic feed rolls mounted on steel arbors accommodate the thickness variation inherit in this type of application while providing the high torque feeding power required in the mills of today.  Typical applications include large timbers used in the shipping industry.  Please contact the factory regarding additional details.

Cutterhead Motors:

• Top head – 75 HP, 3600 RPM, TEFC Premium Efficiency Direct Coupled Motor
• Bottom head – 40 HP, 3600 RPM, TEFC Premium Efficiency Direct Coupled Motor
• Side heads – 30 HP Hydraulic Motors

Feed System:

• Top rolls – Four pneumatic tire rolls approximately 14-1/2″ in diameter. Each tire section has 1-1/2″ independent maximum yield
• Bottom rolls – Four 14″ diameter idle steel rolls
• Top rolls powered by a 25 HP hydraulic power unit with infinitely variable speed

Top Head Chipbreaker:

• Independently yielding 3″ sections
• Each section has 1-1/2″ yield

Grinding and Jointing Equipment:

• In-machine grinding and jointing is standard. All necessary equipment furnished
